Ps 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” KJV
Have you ever been in a situation where you needed/wanted to quote a verse from the Bible but you didn’t have it memorized? Many long years ago (back in the day) I was reading my Bible one day and I came across a particularly meaningful passage that really grabbed me, so I wrote it on a 3×5 card and worked on memorizing it. The stack of cards in the picture above is the result. There are 128 cards in the stack. I used to put one card at a time on the dash of my car and read it over and over as I drove along. I had a job at that time that required quite a bit of travel so this technique worked well. At one time I had all these cards memorized. However, I eventually got old (now 80) and if you aren’t already there you will discover that as one ages one finds it more difficult to memorize and retain that which you have memorized. That’s not to say I haven’t been able to retain several especially important verses. There are, after all, 128 cards in the stack and some with multiple verses. I’m still reading my Bible every day (of course) and I add a new card every now and then.
How about you? Do you have a particularly meaningful verse or verses that you wish you could remember? Look it/them up right now and get out your first 3×5 card and get started on your stack.
